Optimal Trade Entry (OTE) refers to the ideal Fibonacci retracement zone — typically between 0.618 and 0.786 — within a valid structure move. After a BOS or MSS, price often retraces to the OTE zone before continuing in the new direction. It combines structure analysis with Fibonacci levels for precise, low-risk entries. The OTE zone is sometimes extended to include the 0.705 level.
How to Trade OTE
After a bullish BOS, draw Fibonacci retracement from the swing low to the high of the BOS. The OTE zone is between the 0.618 and 0.786 levels. Wait for price to pull back into this zone. Look for confluence — if an OB or FVG aligns with the OTE zone, the entry is significantly stronger. Enter long at the OTE zone with stop loss below the 0.786 level or the swing low.
Real Example — XAUUSD
Example: After a bullish BOS at 3320, price retraces. You draw Fibonacci from the swing low at 3270 to the BOS at 3320 (range = 50 points). The OTE zone sits between 3289 (0.618) and 3281 (0.786). A bullish FVG at 3283–3291 aligns perfectly — strong confluence entry zone.
