Forex Trading Calculators — How They Work

Position size = (Account Balance × Risk %) ÷ (Stop Loss in pips × Pip Value). Always risk a fixed small percentage per trade (1–2% is standard) so a losing streak cannot blow your account. These calculators work for XAUUSD (Gold) and all major forex pairs, free and with no signup.

PairPip sizePip value / 1.0 lot (USD)Pip value / 0.01 lot
XAUUSD (Gold)0.10$10.00$0.10
EURUSD0.0001$10.00$0.10
GBPUSD0.0001$10.00$0.10
AUDUSD0.0001$10.00$0.10
USDJPY0.01≈$9.00≈$0.09

A good risk/reward ratio is 1:2 or higher. At 1:2 you only need to win 33% of trades to break even; at 1:3 you need just 25%. Use the R:R calculator above before every entry to confirm the trade is worth taking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate position size in forex?
Position size = (Account Balance × Risk%) ÷ (Stop Loss in pips × Pip Value per lot). Example: $10,000 account, 1% risk, 20-pip stop on EURUSD = $100 ÷ (20 × $10) = 0.50 lots.
How is XAUUSD position size calculated?
For XAUUSD, 1 standard lot = 100 oz, so a $1 price move = $100 per lot. Position size = Risk Amount ÷ (Stop Loss in dollars × 100). Example: $100 risk, $10 stop = $100 ÷ ($10 × 100) = 0.10 lots.
What is a good risk/reward ratio?
1:2 or higher is considered good. At 1:2 you only need a 33% win rate to be profitable; professionals often target 1:3 or better.
